Charlie Monroe -- 2010 Cruising Guide

An activity shared by all. Power boaters, sail boaters and even non-boat owning members enjoy our cruises.

The Amelia Island area offers us the opportunity for a number of interesting short cruising destinations. The two most popular are our Memorial Day cruise to Jekyll Island, and our Labor Day Cruise to St. Augustine. Both are easy one day to destination, and easily reachable by car for our non-boat owners. A typical cruise begins with a dock side party after reaching our destination, followed by a casual dinner either on our boats or at a local restaurant.

A Mimosa party begins our first morning with a pot lock breakfast held dockside. When at Jekyll Island for Memorial Day, breakfast is followed by dinghy racing (no motors). It must be noted that our men's or women's only rowing races are followed by our blindfolded captain's dinghy race. These races have become a significant spectators activity at the Jekyll Island Marina. In St. Augustine, miniature golf is the competitive activity following the Mimosa breakfast.

A casual afternoon is then followed by a dockside barbeque with side dishes prepared and shared.

Our cruises are supplemented throughout the year with planned and/or spontaneous anchor outs, an occasional all night moonlight cruise, or occasionally a cruise longer than a one day to destination.

Some members either individually or in groups have planned and gone on longer cruises to the Bahamas, Florida Keys, New England and have even done the Inland Waterway Loop to the Great Lakes

Our cruising activities are varied, casual, and fun for all.
