Commodore's Report

With the end of March and the onset of April we suddenly find ourselves in Spring, and Spring brings the true beginning of our boating season. Yes we have been out doing some sailing and some racing, but now starts the season where we can open our canvas enclosures, shed our jackets and really enjoy our boats.

We have a lot of activities coming up in the second quarter of the year, the fishing contest, several races and maybe some anchor outs. Memorial Day is our Jekyll Island cruise, which is a premiere event with cookouts, swimming and of course the dinghy races. You can attend the Memorial Day cruise coming by sail, power boat, or even by car. The important thing, don't miss it! Please put it on your calendars now.

And all of that activity only takes us through the Spring boating season.

I believe AISC is a great club with wonderful people and I encourage everyone to keep on participating and having fun.

Don't forget to smile if a funny looking guy comes along and takes your picture, you might end up in the year end slide show.

Thanks for all your support

John

Well race fans we pulled off another one.

We had the Green bush regatta on March 18th because of 8 to 10 ft swells in the river on the 17th. Anyway we had good winds and good seas so we raced on the 18th.It was a good race, there was enough wind to over come the out going tide (except for the Mast Confusion but then he didn't have three Captains on his boat this time) and rounding buoys took some effort but all in all it was a fine day on the water. Tom Clair and Ted Holmes did the committee boat this time. Tom had some motor problems so he docked early and Ted stepped up and took the finish times from the shore. Thanks to both you guys.  Tom Mason of Baby Blooz with a weak crew (me & Lisa) pulled off a 1st place. Joe Bowen of Vested Virgin armed with a fast boat and a nice PHRF got 2nd and Gene Sokolowski of Sunday Morn Jazz  pulled off 3rd.

The next race is 14 April 07 and is The Around the Sound Race. (I'm thinking NASCAR)

May 19th is The Nassau Sound Race (you know down the island, turn left, come back .lots of stress)

Well that's it for now, Got to get back in a bilge. Later Scott.
