Fresh off of another drifting contest, I sure would like a nice 10 to 15 knot wind without the dark clouds. I guess that is the price we pay for the sailor’s life. I was quite amused at a book I was reading in which the main character’s girl friend had a sailboat. The main character mused at how sailors would go out and have a race when there was no wind. He wasn’t sure who was winning because they were all just sitting there. It turned out one boat was anchored. It reminded me of a few of our races. And there are those of you who are not sure if you want to race because, well because of what. I know: you have never sailed backwards. The most exciting part of our last race was the get together afterwards. Lack of wind has absolutely no affect on our ability to party and have a great time. You would have thought the race was one of those nail biting, photo finishing NASCAR events. And the suspense while waiting for the order of finish, it was electric. Congrats to all who made for a great day of fun.

Folks, the season is about to kick into high gear. The hours of daylight officially inched past the hours of dark this week (sounds like our race). More time on the boat, more time to cruise, more time to socialize and if I am lucky, a couple of dry days so that I can do some painting.

See you at sea.
