Sometimes we must sit back with drink in hand, admiring the sunset over the boat trailers at the basin and ponder the successes and almosts of the year. It really has been a fantastic year for the sailing club so far in 2003. I think the secret is the people. Perhaps we don’t spend enough time thanking folks for doing a great job to make our club a lot of fun. Next time you see one of the 2003 AISC staff, thank them for all the effort. Events have been well organized. Food has been fabulous. Most of the programs were great ( I didn’t learn a lot about bed sheets). The new website is first class, maybe under utilized, but great.  So, what’s ahead? Lot’s more of the good times. We have another half year of races. Linda has plans for lots of nourishment at meetings. There are cruises, programs and we still need to recruit a few more new members.  Well the drink is all gone, the days are getting shorter and Joe is calling for my latest musings for the newsletter.  Fair winds or strong lines.

Amelia Island Sailing Club

2003 Cruise Schedule

August 30- Sept. 1      St. Simons Island, Ga.

Labor Day cruise to Golden Isles Marina (in process of confirmation)

October 3-6             St. Mary's, Ga.

This is my favorite trip. Will sail to St. Mary's to the town dock or Lang's Marina to help celebrate the Rock Shrimp Festival. Lots of fun, good food, and many activities and exhibits. Dockage is $1.00 ft. but does not take reservations but Mr. Lang promises plenty of room. I have stayed at town dock for one night with no problem.

My boat will be in dry dock a good part of the summer. If you would like good crew and possibly shared expenses, let me know, as I would enjoy sailing. Also, May and June are good times to have a raft-up at Cumberland. If you have any dates or suggestions, please let me know at 261-2872 or e-mail at jsmartin@fccj.edu.

The August Program will be short cruise stories by AISC club members.  Tentatively there will be no program for September due to the proximity of Labor Day.  The October program is still in the planning stage.

AHOY fellow sailors we are back on schedule for the August 5th meeting and as discussed at the June meeting we are going to have an Italian night, so put your best dish forward as we did on Mexican night.  Boy what a spread that was--as one person put it, best Mexican food on the island.

Nothing planned for September meeting although we could do something on a different night or if it pleases you suggest something at the August meeting.  Maybe a low country boil.  Give me some input, let's finish up the year with a bang.

Future plans include an ethnic night for October, whatever your heritage or family favorites are would give us all and insight into the food we were brought up on.

Of course, don't forget our second annual Thanksgiving dinner in November, I will fix the Turkey and stuffing.  Please coordinate with me as to what you would like to bring so that we will come up with a well-rounded menu.

I will be starting on the Xmas party in August, any ideas please feel free to

suggest.
