From the Commodore

As we enter the doldrums of summer with our hot, humid and wet weather, I hope that each and every one of you are enjoying some time off of work.  It seems like we will have an active hurricane season this year so keep NOAA and the Boat US web sites on your favorite list as quick references to track storms and make appropriate preparations.  If anyone has other good web sites concerning severe weather tracking, please share them with the membership.  The more information we have, the better prepared we can be.  Remember, July 23rd will be a fun day on the water with our Poker Run and party afterwards.  Hope everyone can join in and party.  Next month's big event will be the Blessing of the Fleet and reception.  Let's hope that our weather cooperates!  I will have detailed information for this event at the upcoming meeting in August, look forward to seeing you there.

Fellow Sailors,

I trust all of you have been getting out on the water and putting up your sails or motoring, as the case may be.  Unfortunately, due to mechanical problems, I have not been under sail since April.  The Mary Wanda-er should be ready to go by the end of July and I look forward to getting her sails in the air.  There are several of us in the club that are considering going over to the Abaco Islands in May.  If you have an interest in taking your vessel over to the Bahamas, let me know.  If all goes well, we will try to leave West Palm Beach early May.  By the time you read this we will have had the Vice Commodore’s Poker Run & Picnic.  I hope those of you that were able to attend had a great outing and lots of fellowship.  Our next meeting is in August and I look forward to seeing all of you again.  Keep your keels in the water and your masts pointed into the air.

Additional comments after the Poker Run

I want to thank all of you who helped make today’s 2005 Vice Commodore’s “Poker Run” such a fun event.  It was a day filled with fun on the water, great fellowship, and good food.  To those of you that were unable to attend, you were missed.  Stay safe and I look forward to seeing everyone at the August meeting.
