Well, How Time Flies. It seemed like just last week we were getting ready for the "Christmas Party" and today, we are ready to Kick Off another Fun Filled Season of Parties, Cruising and Racing. Keeping Our Motto of "Having Fun Together", our focus.

I would like to thank our Past Commodore and His Crew for having created this positive energy that will make the 2004 Season such a Success!!!!!!!!  Your, New Officers and Committee Chairs have put their thinking caps on and a smile on their faces in preparation for this season.  In a meeting that was to have taken us only an hour to complete ran into 2 1/2 hours. This was to make sure that all areas of the Club’s Membership needs were reviewed.

Please join me in welcoming our new Vice Commodore and Chairpersons.

If you have not taken advantage of our Cruising or Racing Programs, please join us this year and find out how much fun it is.  Boating is a lot of fun, but it's even more enjoyable when you're on the water with other Members of The Amelia Island Sailing Club.

There will be some New Things to look for during our meetings, such as "The Ship Store"

and a "50/50 Drawing" .(Details by their Creators to follow)  As a reminder, please bring THE CHECKBOOK OR CASH for the annual dues and why not start the new season by getting your vessel a new "BURGEE".  There is a lot planned, like our 1st Pot Luck Dinner, so come early, and enjoy the exciting start to the 2004 Season on Feb 3rd!!!!

See You There.

Gene

I am honored to take up the mantle of Vice Commodore for the AISC for 2004.  Axel and I have been "locals" for three short years, but have found friendship and sailing camaraderie at the club.

For those of you who do not know me, here is a short bio of my past experiences as a sailor.  I have been sailing since 1980, when I purchased a Newport 16.  After marrying Axel in the '80's, I graduated to a larger boat and began my education in racing. Little did I know at that point in time that I would be competing as the lone female crew member on a number of long distance ocean races! It was an experience. We have competed in a totally of 9 Marion and Newport to Bermuda and one Tampa/St. Pete to Havana races over the years, retiring from long distance ocean racing in 1997.
I am past Commodore of the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club (1996), where I was privileged to start the sailing program for Special Olympics of New Jersey.
We have a dynamic Commodore, past Commodore who, along with proactive club officers, are all working together to keep the club growing, while looking for new activities and adventures. I hope to be able to make a significant contribution to our club, but need your help.  If you have any ideas that you would like to discuss, either give me a call at (904) 491-1300 or drop me a line lhankr@aol.com.
Look forward to hearing from you and working with everyone in the AISC to have another great year in 2004 and beyond!
