Commodore's
Report
It
is amazing how fast this year has gone by. Hard to believe this will be my last
Commodore's column.
In
retrospect, I believe we have had a successful year. The activities have been
many, and there has been
excellent
membership participation. The club has grown to over 40 members and I believe
we will grow
even
more next year.
I
want to thank all of the businesses and individuals who have sponsored our
activities. Sponsorship helps
minimize
our expenses and enables us to remain fiscally sound. I think the
deserves
a special thanks for the great job they did supplying the food for the Poker
Run. Kevin and Carol
really
did a fabulous job.
A
special thank you must also be given to Amelia Hart and the staff at "My
Nassau Sun," for printing all of
our
articles. I believe their coverage of our events has helped in drawing new
members to the club.
The
AISC is unique in that we almost have all the benefits of a Yacht Club, but we
are not burdened
with
the responsibility of property to maintain. Instead of worrying about building
maintenance, insurance,
tending
bar, etc., we need only concentrate on what are we going to do to have fun.
However, as we grow
I
suspect that will change and the AISC may in fact have to look for a permanent
place to fly our burgee.
But
for now, we can sit back and think only about the next cruise, race, fishing
contest or the poker run.
I
want to thank every one of my Officers and Committee Chairs for their help this
year. In addition, I want
to
thank the whole membership for allowing me to be Commodore of the AISC. It has
been a great experience.
Thank
you. See you at the November meeting, and don't forget to make your
reservations for the Christmas
Party

Vice Commodore’s Report
A special thanks to my crew
for the FL-GA race, Jay-Paul Thibault, Jack Meany and particularly to Graeme
Nichol without whose special sailing skills the Mary Wanda-er, (soon to be Mary
Wanderer) would not have enjoyed such great success.
For those of you who were
fortunate to know Allen Trowbridge you may remember him always saying to anyone
complaining about the summer heat that as soon as October 15th has
past the temperature will again be comfortable to go sailing. I will add that also the fear of afternoon
thunderstorms is greatly diminished.
Except for a little rain on Friday, last weekend was great for day
sailing, racing or cruising.
Hope to see everyone out on
the water.

Our
club currently has $5543.00 in the treasury.
We are doing so well, I asked the Commodore for a pay raise. His answer was something to the effect that 2
X $0 = $0. I will see you at the
November meeting.
