Wow, imagine we are coming to the end of the 2003 season. It has been a wonderful year. We have seen some great growth in the club. I think it can be attributed to a lot of folks that care. It is hard for me to thank everyone enough. I know all of this good work and progress will continue into the next year.  Bill Bass is recovering from a pretty nasty whack on the head. We brought him and Lynn home on Sat (10/18). Bill looks good but is under strict doctor's orders (Dr Lynn) to take it easy for a few days. I’ sure he will be fine. Everybody better watch out for Coy Mistriss, Gene and I had her doing 9 knots on the GPS coming in the inlet yesterday (10/19). Speaking of which, we were just barely staying ahead on Final Platt out practicing for the next race. We have a couple of crews really getting the bug. Racing is fun and really helps one’s sailing ability. Not only that it teaches you to duck or you find out what it is like to have people dropping out of helicopters on or near your boat.

Upcoming events include a Creek Party and Anchor Out (October), Last official race (Nov 1), November meeting and meal (Nov 4), Christmas Party (Dec), and hopefully the Great Circumnavigation (date TBA).

The Scuttlebutt is placed on the new website each month and is archived to that site.  The Scuttlebutt is also e-mailed to each member who has submitted an e-mail address.  Currently, the Scuttlebutt is also mailed to 14 members each month that either do not have e-mail or haven’t provided one to the club.  To reduce the overhead (approximately $200.00 per year) of mailing copies of the Scuttlebutt, the Scuttlebutt will no longer be mailed to members.  Hard copies of the Scuttlebutt will be available at the meeting.
