From the Commodore

As year 2005 rapidly winds down to its final few months, we can be grateful that our small area of Florida was spared the devastation visited upon other areas of our state and our Gulf neighbors.  This year was full of exceptional presentation at monthly meeting, coupled with the usual gourmet fare prepared by our members.  The racing season was skillfully handled by Bob Cannon with participation from all our 'go fast' members.

We have our traditional Thanksgiving feast to look forward to next week and another great Christmas party coordinated by Linda Lecki to look forward to in December.  Our roster of officers and committee chairs for 2006 is exceptional and I predict an outstanding year of fun events.  Thanks to one and all who participated in club events, cooked phenomenal dishes or just simply attended the monthly meetings, bringing their good cheer and friendship for all to share.  I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah and festive holiday season.

Greeting fellow sailors,

Our treasury is looking pretty good with $2500. The Christmas Party is coming up on December 10th at the North Hampton CC and it’s always a good time, so please plan to attend. We have not determined a cost per person, but it will be announced at the upcoming November 1st meeting, so bring your checkbooks.  Dues for 2006 will be $100 per family and checks will be accepted at the November meeting.  I'm looking forward to seeing all of you at our annual Thanksgiving Feast. And, as always, please let me know if you have any questions.

The cruising season is fast coming to an end. After the Oct. Race, we had an Anchor-out at Cumberland.  Great time and wonderful weather. This is the season to drop the anchor. The last planned trip is a return to St Aug for the Thanksgiving Holidays and tour of the St Aug Christmas Lights. Please let me know if you are interested in this trip.

Thanks to all those who participated in the Seventh Annual Fl.GA. Challenge. 14 boats signed up and 12 raced on Saturday morning, six from each club.  The trip out to the start is a tough part of the race, it can take up to two hours and this year we had to fight the tide, fog, and early morning blahs to get out there. Skimmer had a problem and was about ten minutes late, but made it up to finish a solid second but only eight minutes out of first.
