From The Commodore:

Can you believe November is almost here, which will be our last meeting prior to our Christmas party?  It has been my pleasure to serve as your Commodore for the 2006 season.  It has been a fun year for me interspersed with some challenging moments that I have enjoyed.  Most of all, it has been a great year for the Amelia Island Sailing Club.  I want to especially thank my flag officers and chairpersons for the effort and support they have given to the Club and me during the 2006 season.  We have enjoyed fun meetings, with great food and excellent speakers.  It would not have been possible without all of you who participated in everything from meetings to races.

We just finished the Florida-Georgia Offshore Challenge Race and the Amelia Island Sailing Club retained the winner’s cup, thanks to our sailors who took the majority of the trophies.  A special thanks to our race committee, who made it all possible and did such a wonderful job and to Tom Clare for volunteering “Sea Knight” as the committee boat.

Our next meeting will be on November 7th and Thanksgiving Feast will be our dinner theme.  December 2nd is our Christmas party and I hope all will attend.  Make sure, if you have not already paid, to bring cash or your checkbook to the November meeting for your Christmas party reservations.

I wish all of you a wonderful Holiday Season and I hope to see you at our November meeting and Christmas Party.  Thank you for allowing me to serve you as the Amelia Island Sailing Club Commodore for the 2006 season.

Fair Winds & Good Sailing,

Roger

Well it is November, and we will soon be feasting on turkey with all the trimmings.

I have just completed a photo slide show presentation of this year's AISC activities. A task I honestly enjoy doing. Hopefully if there is time, I will show the photos at the November meeting.

As I prepared the slide show, several things became apparent. First, I sure take a lot of pictures, second as a club we did a lot this year, and third we had a lot of membership participation. In addition, I saw a lot of smiling faces in the pictures, so I must conclude, we had a lot of fun. I know I did.

The pictures sum up the success of all the hard work the various committee chairs have put in planning and running events. I urge you to come and view the slide show, I am certain you will enjoy the presentation. Heck, it may be better than the movies.

At this months meeting we will elect the officers for 2007. It is usually a very quick and painless process so please participate.

As we view the pictures from 2006, and elect the officers for 2007, I would ask all of our members to reflect on the fun we had this year and think of new things we can do in 2007. Even better, please volunteer to help with some of the activities.

See you at the November meeting

John
