Since my message in the last Scuttlebutt, we have had to cancel the cruise to St Augustine as well as the September AISC meeting and have had two(2) additional hurricanes come thru the area. Also, we have had to cancel 2 races for reasons that can be attributed to a hurricane. Make up races in October will be plentiful! I'm tired of this stuff as I am sure you are, so if there is someone out there who can put in a good word for us with Mother Nature, PLEASE DO! The next meeting will be held on Tuesday October 5th at the Kraft Center. Historically this has been the meeting for Octoberfest, so get the Brats, Kielbasa & Sauerkraut cooking' and anything else you wish to bring. Hope all have made it thru these challenging past few weeks with little or no problems.

As we enter the final two months of a devastating hurricane season, let us offer our prayers for our fellow Floridians who faced the onslaught of Charley, Frances and Ivan and lost so much.  Let us also ask for continued protection for our small area of the state, in hopes that we do not faced threats from future monster storms.

A lot of interest has been generated in the proposed winter dinghy racing series and the possibility of starting up a junior sailing program for Island youths.  I will have more information about where we could go with this idea at October's meeting.

I guess we missed out on the 'husbands' buffet.  Hope that we can experience their culinary prowess at some point in the future.  You are not off the hook guys!

See you all at the October meeting.

The Scuttlebutt is placed on the new website each month and past issues are archived to that site.  The Scuttlebutt is also e-mailed to each member who has submitted an e-mail address.    A few hard copies of the Scuttlebutt are available at the meetings.  A Calendar has been added to the website, check it out.  The latest Membership list is located on the website as well.  Check out the very helpful links on the website.  If any club member has Cruise Reports, Photographs, or any other items of interest for our Scrapbook please send them to me.  I will be unable to attend the October meeting.  I will be relaxing in St. Maarten.  See you next month.
