From The Commodore:

I am glad to see the beginning of cooler temperatures and lower humidity and I am sure many of you are too.  Fall is a great time to sail and/or spend the night anchored out in a quiet anchorage.  I encourage each of you to take advantage of the season and enjoy your vessel.

I want to extend a special thanks to Scott Inglis and his race committee for the fine job they are doing with our regattas.  I hope we have a great turnout for the “Florida-Georgia Ocean Challenge Race” on October 21st from St. Simons to Fernandina Beach.  If you have not signed up, please contact Scott or Joe Bowen.  I am sure this year’s race will be another event you will not want to miss!  Our partnership with the Golden Isles Sailing Club has been a special one that we want to continue to support.

Our next meeting is October 3rd and I look forward to seeing all of you there.  Don’t forget to bring your nautical items for our one time nautical flea market that will be set up in the billiard room and bring your check book for those items you can’t live without.  Our dinner theme is “October Fest” and I can’t wait to taste all the wonderful German dishes our cooks provide at the potluck dinner.

I will see you at the “October Fest” meeting . . . . .

Roger

Vice Commodore's Report

Is it Fall? I can't believe it,...... Summer is over!

I guess I wasn't paying attention, because I simply didn't see summer leave.  I feel terrible I never said goodbye.

However, the year is not complete. We still have two more races, I think the Cruise Committee might be planning something, there's the Holiday Party, and maybe an anchor out at Cumberland for New Year's Eve.

At the November meeting, I will run a picture presentation showing our members and their boats participating in this years activities.  The nominating committee has done their job and also at the November meeting we will be holding the election of Officers for 2007.   I include this in this months report for those that can't come to the October meeting will make sure they come to the November meeting.  Remember this is your club please come and vote.

By the way, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should buy my wife for Christmas?

John

Ahoy sailors,

Our bank account remains very healthy with a $4600 balance. With the 50/50 and store income we receive each month, it keeps the bank balance relatively stable. However, the balance will drop significantly in December with the Christmas Party and end-of-year expenses.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Happy sailing,

Lin Bass, Treasurer
