Commodore's Report

By the time you read this the St. Augustine Cruise will be in full swing, or if you are participating in the cruise, you might not read it until the cruise is completed. In either case it is a new month and we are entering the fall sailing season. The 2007 Bikini Race was as expected very successful, and as usual we had a good turnout.

I want to thank Barbara Sokolowski and Suzanne Rudge the owners of "What's In Resale Boutique", for sponsoring the Bikini Race

As we start our fall races I am looking for other businesses to donate $100 to sponsor races. We usually get them publicity in the paper and hopefully our members will frequent their businesses. The sponsorship money is used to offset some of our expenses. If anyone has ideas, please let me know. I am still after the two mills to sponsor races as they have done in the past, but it seems all our contacts have moved on.

There are three club races and one interclub race left for the year.

Although not scheduled, if someone wants to organize an anchor out at Cumberland please let me know. It could be a day or an overnight event.

We will shortly be publicizing the Christmas Party and will start collecting money in October. We have booked the place and live entertainment that I am certain you will like. More on that at the next meeting.

See you at the meeting on Tuesday September 4th

John

The Amelia Island Sailing Club treasury currently has $4,276. All the Poker Run bills are paid.  I am doing so well at this treasury “stuff”, I may ask for a raise.  LOL

Cruisers,

Colder weather is coming. It is time to think about an anchor-out. Cumberland is always a great place. Close by and convenient for fast and slow alike. September and October always seem to fill up fast, so we better make some plans. Near full moon cruises present some of the best opportunities in that we can visit on other boats and yet still see the way back via dinghy. The 22nd of September will give us a lot of moon light. Please check your calendars and let's talk about it at the Sept meeting.

Hello race fans, well we had a nice start to our fall race season. We had the Bikini Race on Aug 07. We had nine boat sign up to race. 3rd went to John Burns of Mast Confusion. 2nd went to Butch Beard of Cheese Boat. 1st went to Tom Mason and his ringer crew of Baby Blooz. Great job to all the ladies who manned the helm and didn't choke/drown their captains. We had good wind and it made for a full day of sailing. Our next race is Sept 15th, so come out and enjoy the fun. That’s all for now, Later, Scott
