I'm writing this to ya'll just prior to disappearing from Amelia Island for two weeks on business and vacation travel.  By the time of our next AISC meeting, at the Kraft Athletic Center on Tuesday September 3rd, happy hour starting at 6:30 pm, we will have had our annual Bikini Regatta and cruised up to St. Simons for the Labor Day week-end!

I'm looking forward to race reports from the Bikini Regatta, which will be held on Saturday AUGUST 24th.  Hopefully there will be a good good turn-out, good sailing winds and a close finish!  We also have to start making plans for the upcoming Florida - Georgia Ocean Challenge, to be held in October.

Ben Franklin from the Amelia Island Yacht Basin will be our speaker at our September meeting (thanks Gene).  I'm looking forward to meeting Mr. Franklin and learning more about the ongoing and planned improvements at AIYB.

Thanks again to Vice Commodore Butch Beard for arranging the AISC web-site.  It's pretty neat and a good way to get sailing info out to the club and communicate with each other between monthly meetings.

Have a happy and safe Labor day week-end with your family and friends!

VICE COMMODORE:

Butch Beard

This has been quite a month for trying to get things up and running on the AISC group on yahoo. I tried lots of things that the site provides like a poll that said DON’T reply but go on-line and vote. I am happy to say that only about half voted by replying to the email. We have pictures. Thanks Tom who got some great shots of the race. We have schedules, calendars, lists of things for sale, etc. There is lots for folks to look at and help with. Finally I would like to thank Tom C who has accepted the task of site monitor and has stayed right on top of things.

The address is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/aisailingclub.

Thanks,

Butch

If you have any newsworthy items you’d like to contribute to the newsletter, you can e-mail them to me at isabel.romero@cnet.navy.mil by the 15th of the month for inclusion in the following months newsletter.

Those of you who recently returned from the Bahamas or any other wonderful sailing trips, how about e-mailing me with your adventure for inclusion in next months newsletter.  Remember, there are a lot of members who cannot attend all meetings and who I’m sure would like to hear about your trip as well.  Also, if you have any pictures, please e-mail them to me so I can include them in the newsletter.
