Wow, the summer is getting past us way too fast. Kids are already in school and the weather will soon be starting to cool off. I guess that makes it time to start thinking about cruising to the favorite anchor-out place. I hope everybody is preparing for the great Circum-navigation. It will require two consecutive nights on the anchor (unless you cheat and head for port) and some great on the boat cooking. As you can see I am trying to get everyone to hone the survival skills to the level necessary to make the great crossing next May. Oh yes start your planning right now for the big trip next May and/or early June. We shall assemble the largest armada since Spain attacked England, or was it England attacked France. I know for a fact that England was involved. But we can’t leave till after the race with that club from up North. Fighting the Frogs is important but whipping the northern boats in a race is about as important as it gets. Speaking of racing the northerners from GA, there is a matter of club pride at stake. We really need more than 3 boats to race. Almost every AISC boat that sails beats most if not all the GA folks. The next challenge is scheduled for Oct. It would be a moral victory if we had more boats in the race than that other club. So everybody needs to be at the September meeting to discuss strategy. See you there.

2003 Cruise Schedule

October 3-6             St. Mary's, Ga.

This is my favorite trip. Will sail to St. Mary's to the town dock or Lang's Marina to help celebrate the Rock Shrimp Festival. Lots of fun, good food, and many activities and exhibits. Dockage is $1.00 ft. but does not take reservations but Mr. Lang promises plenty of room. I have stayed at town dock for one night with no problem.

My boat will be in dry dock a good part of the summer. If you would like good crew and possibly shared expenses, let me know, as I would enjoy sailing, please let me know at 261-2872 or e-mail at jsmartin@fccj.edu.
